The use of special diets and juice cleanses to detoxify certain organs of the body has become increasingly popular. According to a study reported in Science Daily, unsweetened cranberry juice has proven to be a significant reducer in urinary tract infections and might also be linked to a reduced risk of kidneys stones, cardiovascular disease and cancer. The cranberry juice detox, recommended by many alternative doctors and naturopaths alike, combines unsweetened cranberry juice and water to flush the kidneys, lymphatic system and intestines from toxins accumulated from environmental, dietary and other toxic influences, and can cause results in as little as a week.
Plan ahead for your cranberry juice detox by checking your calendar for any physically or mentally strenuous activities coming up in the next week. Reschedule any activities that might require more than the average amount of energy during the fasting period.
Clean out your 64-ounce drinking container and add 8 to 12 oz. of undiluted unsweetened cranberry juice. Fill the rest of the container with filtered water.
Begin the first day of your cranberry juice detox by drinking from your container in the place of meals. Align your consumption of the juice with your normal eating habits, such as eating five smaller meals than three larger ones. Drink at least half a container’s worth throughout the day, but drink no more than 64 oz. so you don’t stress your kidneys.
Repeat the fasting period for two to three days as desired, refilling your cranberry juice and water mixture each day and drinking during mealtimes. On the third day, you can begin to introduce organic fruits and whole grains during your breakfast period, but drink at least 4 oz. of your detox juice and water mixture and wait an hour before eating breakfast.
